Introducing New METRANS Student Assistant Griffin Kantz

Thursday, April 7, 2016

by By Kaitlyn Zhang, USC MPP 2017

Meet METRANS Transportation Center student team member Griffin Kantz.

Kantz is a third-year undergraduate student majoring Policy, Planning, and Development with a specialization in sustainable planning, working towards minors in both Mathematics and Spatial Studies. He is passionate about transportation planning issues, which encapsulate his desire to work with moving components, modeling, and closed systems. After graduating from USC, Kantz wants to become an urban planner working on land use and urban transportation development problems.

In his spare time, Kantz is an active student leader in transportation issues around campus. He is the President of the Institute of Transportation Engineers (ITE) USC Chapter and the ITE liaison to the American Planning Association at USC. He also likes to spend his personal time working on a wide variety of projects related to transportation. He is currently gathering research and reports on Metro projects and future proposals to predict what the Metro system will look like in 2030.

Griffin’s main hobby outside of transportation is travel. He travels to Europe annually and feels inspired by the public transit system and train services provided by the cities there.
