Wednesday, September 3, 2014, fifteen USC transportation students from both policy and engineering attended the WTS lunch meeting, LA INSIGHTS FROM THE BOARDROOM - Leading Transportation Across Land, Air and Sea. Sponsored by AECOM and CH2M Hill. The students heard from women who serve in this high stakes arena as the Directors and Commissioners responsible for setting policy that will impact Southern California for generations. This panel included leaders from varied modes of transportation, and was moderated by Jacki Bacharach from the South Bay Cities Council of Governments.
"The WTS seminar was a great opportunity to understand more about what is happening in the LA area, meet new people, and exchange experience and knowledge." remarked graduate student Germano Johansson, who has come to USC to study transportation planning and transportation engineering after completing his bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering/Railroad Engineering in Brazil. "I really enjoyed the speakers' transparency and direct approach. The meeting called my attention to the importance of the high-speed rail project in California and I hope to work on some part of that project in the future."
