This new Manual of Best Management Practices (BMPs) for Increasing Local Minority and Low-Income Employment in Transit Construction Projects was funded by FTA. It presents 14 BMPs in contracting, outreach, financing, compliance and agency leadership for transit agencies. It includes examples and supporting material based on recent case studies and surveys. The research was conducted by USC Price School faculty, including Profs. G. Giuliano, METRANS, D. Bahl, Center for Economic Development, and H. Blanco, Center for Sustainable Cities. The Manual you download below (see Link) is based on our study of minority and low income job opportunities in recent light rail projects. We would like to find out how it responds to the experiences of diversity officers. After you download the Manual, please complete the brief survey identified below that should take just a few minutes. Thank you for your help. Click here to take survey

Jeremy was honored at the 22nd Annual Outstanding Student of the Year Awards Ceremony that took place on Saturday, January 12, 2013, in Washington, DC. For the past 21 years, the U.S. Department of Transportation (USDOT) has honored an outstanding student from each University Transportation Center at a special ceremony held during the Transportation Research Board Annual Meeting. Each student is recognized during the ceremony by a Departmental official; the Administrator of the Research and Innovative Technology Administration made the presentation last year. The METRANS Outstanding Student of the Year also receives a cash award, a certificate from the USDOT, and the expenses for attendance at the TRB Annual Meeting. The TRB Annual Meeting is the largest meeting of transportation academics and professionals in the world.
