In this project, Dr. Ioannou plans to address safety and mobility associated with connected autonomous vehicles during merging and lane change maneuvers. In particular, he plans to develop:

A real time algorithm for calculating safe spacing for lane changes and merging

Protocol of negotiating the creation of safety spacing in the destination lane
