Panama Canal Expansion: The Battle for Jobs and Cargo (2010, 19:00 minutes, DVD format)
This video was presented at the inaugural CITT Point/Counterpoint held October 6, 2010. It is a pictorial summary of the history and relevance of the Panama Canal.
The video covers the history of the Panama Canal from the earliest efforts to build it to the current efforts to expand it. It provides a framework for understanding the significant developments occurring today in global distribution. Within this context, the video presentation reveals "the big picture" regarding logistics and goods movement. Most significantly, the video articulates the competitive challenges that lie ahead for west coast ports, with special emphasis on the Port of Long Beach and the Port of Los Angeles.
