Alison Conway,  Assistant Professor, City College of New York, presents research on Cargo Cycles for Local and Last Mile Delivery: Lessons from New York City.  This research seminar took place at Portland State University on December 4, 2015.  Professor Conway’s research interests include the interface between freight and green non-motorized modes of transportation in urban settings.

From Chicago to ParisTakanori Sakai, a PhD student from the University of Illinois at Chicago (supervising Professor Kazuya Kawamura), spent three weeks at IFSTTAR on the Metrofreight Paris team during September-October 2015. Takanori worked with Adeline Heitz and Adrien Beziat on a comparison between Paris and Tokyo regarding the location of warehouses. The Urban Freight Platform (UFP) organized an international research seminar on urban freight. The focus of the seminar was presenting international and local urban freight research on a wide range of urban freight issues, including presentations by the international speakers Laetitia Dablanc (IFSTTAR, University of Paris-Est) and Paola Andrea Cruz Daraviña (University de los Andes, Bogota), complemented with presentations by researchers from the UFP.

More than 20 MetroFreight researchers gave presentations at the 2015 International Urban Freight Conference on October 21-23, 2015, in Long Beach, California. The conference was established in 2006 and is held every two years. Organized by the METRANS Transportation Center, the purpose of I-NUF is to provide a forum for multidisciplinary research on all aspects of urban freight. The presentations are as follows:
