METRANS and MetroFreight Directors Gen Giuliano and Tom O'Brien, Researchers Laetitia Dablanc, Eleonora-Morganti, and Qian Wang, and PhD students Shaui (Louis) Tang and Sanggyun Kang represented the MetroFreight Center of Excellence at the 2014 Pan-American Advanced Studies Institute on Sustainable Urban Freight Systems (PASI-SUFS) held from August 3rd through August 15th in Bogota, Colombia.  USC Price Urban Planning PhD student Sanggyun Kang was awarded Volvo Research and Educational Foundations sponsorship to the full two weeks of the conference.

Seven PhD students from USC have been selected to present their transportation research at the 54th Annual Conference of the Association of Collegiate Schools of Planning (ACSP) conference, Big Ideas, Global Impacts.  In late October, these students will join METRANS and MetroFreight Directors and faculty as well as seven of their student colleagues from USC to address the "big ideas" in planning.  The students and their presentations are:  Sandip Chakrabarti, The Demand for Reliable Travel:  Analyzing the Influence of Service Reliability on Transit Mode Choice; Andy Hong, Can New Light Rai
