Dan Beal was Managing Director, Public Policy for the Automobile Club of Southern California until his retirement in March 2007. He was responsible for policy development, issue and legislative analysis, transportation policy advocacy, government agency liaison, transportation funding, safety and education programs, and other areas for the Club and its AAA affiliates in Hawaii, Missouri, New Mexico, Northern New England and Texas. He is now a consultant in these issue areas.

Prior to joining the Auto Club in 1996, Dan was the Director of Transportation for the Community Redevelopment Agency of the City of Los Angeles, with responsibility for transportation policy and program development and implementation for the nation's largest redevelopment agency. 

Dan was also a Legislative Analyst for the Los Angeles City Council for twenty years, with extensive policy experience in transportation and other municipal concerns. He holds undergraduate and graduate degrees in Public Administration from UCLA.
